Why G-Class fitment is unforgiving
Body kits and flare sets are generation-specific. A W463 facelift grille will not sit correctly on a W464 or W465 without the matching panel set.

Quick generation map
W460 / W461 — classic military and civilian platforms; parts rarely interchange with modern W463 kits.
W463 — the long-running civilian G-Class most conversion shops know; facelift stages still matter for lights and bumpers.
W463A (2018+) — heavily revised body and electronics; treat as its own fitment bucket.
W465 — newest platform with different body geometry; confirm year range and code before ordering full conversion packages.
